(1)Work Scholar Program Since 1983 Aperture’s Work-Scholar Program has continued to bring individuals of special promise from the United States and around the world into sustained contact with all of Aperture’s activities. From editorial to curatorial, communications to education, Aperture’s work scholars make an invaluable contribution to all of Aperture’s activities and collaborate closely with leaders of the photography, publishing, and fine arts fields. Successful work-scholars soon find themselves engaged in the writing, editing, design, production, circulation and marketing of photography’s most significant publications, in the development of major traveling exhibitions and their promotion both in the United States and abroad, and in the business operations essential to a nonprofit organization. The program has welcomed an average of sixteen young graduates each year with an extraordinary record of success and accomplishment. Work scholars emerge from Aperture’s program each season braced with skills and experiences essential to excelling in a myriad of related professions. Commitment The program is designed for a six-month or twelve month full-time commitment running from January through June, and from July through December. We do not offer summer or semester long internships. Full-time interns receive a stipend of $250 per month and complimentary copies of Aperture magazine throughout their program. Interns are also offered the opportunity to gain evening/weekend part time work at Aperture’s Bookstore & Gallery and during Aperture Educational and Special Events at a rate of $10 an hour. Applicants must make their own living arrangements and should have sufficient financial resources to cover their living expenses. College credit is available for this program. Part time position is available only in the Circulation/Marketing Department. Applying Send or e-mail a current resume and cover letter describing your background, skills and personal motivations in applying to the program. In the first sentence of your letter please be sure to indicate 1-3 departments, in order of preference, for which you would like to be considered, and the time period for which you would be available (six or twelve months, beginning in January or July).
